Cedar-Bark Regalia

(Left) Sepia tone photograph by Edward Curtis of male dancer wearing cedar bark regalia of head neck and body rings. (Right) Faded blueish greyscale photograph of woman in dance apron with four rows of puffin beak rattles, button blanket and cedar neckring.

Cedar Bark regalia is sacred and used in all except one of the Kwakwaka’wakw ceremonies. Although they may appear the same, each object is unique and is only used for specific dances.
