Physical Description

Bird mask with long beak representing Gwaxgwakwalanuksiwe’ (Raven at the north end of the world), one of the servants of Baxwbakwalanuksiwe', the Cannibal at the north end of the world. The mask is carved in wood and painted red, black and white. The crescent-shaped nostrils are pierced and painted in red. A complex design surrounds them. It is decorated with a fringe of cedar bark and feathers around the head.
